If you’ve ever hung Christmas lights on your own house, you know that it’s a bit of chore. That’s why I’m totally in awe and appreciation of those that pull out all the stops to create a display for others to enjoy!
Use our tips and route below for a fun family night of Christmas joy!
Before you go
Know your route! We’ve done the work for you, so open this link on your phone and Google Maps will guide you like your own personal Rudolph! JSH DIY Light Tour
Make sure everyone uses the bathroom! Having to make a pit stop kind of interrupts the experience.
Pick up some hot chocolate and a candy cane for everyone! Who doesn’t love a little treat? (And, much like an unplanned bathroom stop, whines of “I’m hungry!” ruin the vibe.)
Fill up the gas tank. Again, eliminate an interruption in the fun.
If you’re feeling the generosity of the season, bring some cash. Several of the stops on our last collect donations for charitable causes.
Light-viewing courtesies
First and foremost, remember that you’re driving through neighborhoods where people live. Don’t block driveways or through traffic. Pull to the side of the road and turn your lights to parking mode. Don’t honk your horn. Don’t litter.
Practice your patience! The close to Christmas, the more the traffic. You may have to wait in line to get a good view. Turn up the Christmas tunes on your radio and relax.
Orient your route so that you’re driving and stopping on the opposite side of the street from the light show. This gives everyone a chance to have a good view and helps traffic flow better through the neighborhood, especially for the neighbors.
Our route
We’ve included 9 addresses on this list. In addition to these precise stops, you’ll see lights of lovely displays throughout the route and some address stops have several participating neighbors. Pay special attention to the next door neighbor of 11680 65th Ave N!
