Problem
Because our microwaves are meant to assist us when we’re in a hurry, keeping them clean often gets overlooked once the left-overs are ready to eat. The spaghetti sauce splatters and wayward cheese shreds can become so petrified that a chisel is required to remove them.
Attack Plan
Gather up a lemon, a bottle of white vinegar, a roll of paper towels, and a microwave-safe bowl.
Put two cups of water in the bowl and then stir in two tablespoons of vinegar, and the juice of half of the lemon. Put that half of the lemon in the bowl, too, after you’ve squeezed out the juice.
Set the bowl in the microwave and “cook” it for five minutes. Don’t open the microwave once the five minutes are up! Leave it be for two or three minutes so that the steam can soak into the gunk and grease.
Use some paper towels to wipe out the microwave and the turn-table. If you’re microwave has been really neglected and there’s still build-up left, make a fresh bowl of water/vinegar/lemon and repeat the process.
