Summer neighborhood activities that you can easily organize are an amazing way to bring everyone together. Everyone can enjoy getting to know each other better, looking out for each other and building friendships with some of these ideas.
- Neighborhood Potluck: One of the easiest ways to entertain everyone is with a neighborhood potluck, where everyone brings their favorite dish to one location.
- Kids Scavenger Hunt: Get every house on your block in on the fun when all the little kids go door to door to complete a list of simple objects like a paperclip, a bobby pin, a rubber band and the like. Kids win popsicles when they bring all their items back to the starting place.
- Family Block Party: Arrange with the city to barricade off your street for a time, for an outdoor cookout, soccer game, hopscotch or dance party. Bring out your coolers, chips and lawn chairs and get to know your neighbors.
- Bicycle Parade: Help kids in your neighborhood decorate their bikes, trikes, wagons and strollers. Then parade down the street to cheering parents and neighbors. Finish off with ice cream.
- Nature Hike: Organize everyone to bring their kids on a nature hike around the neighborhood where you find and identify interesting leaves, bugs and flowers. Kids can draw their finds on a page that then gets put together into a Neighborhood Nature book binder that can be added to all summer long.
