Grocery shopping. It’s in my top 5 least favorite domestic duties. I’ve tried several options to leverage out this chore, none of which really fit the bill for our needs. When Shipt came to our local Target store, we decided to give it a try on their two-week free trial and ordered three times in that two weeks. After that, we saw the value in the $99 annual membership fee and signed up!
What we love about Shipt:
- The online ordering platform is easy to use whether accessing the web version on my laptop or the mobile app on my phone.
- Things we order regularly are stored in a “buy again” category. We buy a lot of the same products every week and this makes it easy to add them to our order again.
- Shoppers are very communicative! I get a text when they start shopping asking if I need to make any changes to my order and again when they finish. If anything I’ve ordered is out of stock or produce doesn’t look great, I get a text asking whether to substitute or skip it.
- Our order is delivered right to our front door in the one-hour window of time we chose when placing our order. No waiting in a mile-long line behind the coupon guru disputing a discount. No loading and unloading the car! Our kids carry the bags to the kitchen and start putting stuff away.
- We’ve cut our grocery spending by 40% (and that’s including the annual membership fee and tipping our shopper)! A few things play into this savings:
- We order only what we need for the week. I “shop” by ordering from my laptop in my kitchen where I can look to see exactly what we need and what we have enough of to get by another week.
- We don’t throw extras in our cart from the sale displays designed precisely to get you to spend $$ on stuff you don’t need.
- I can’t casually detour through the clearance end caps (and dollar section and clothing section and shoe section and home goods section) of Target to throw unnecessary discounted stuff into my cart.
When you decide to give it a try, let us know and we’ll share a few more tips with you to make it an exceptional experience!
